Here’s what needs to happen first:
- Time is of the essence! Yes, it’s gross, but bird droppings contain seeds, rocks, and acid that can permanently etch and scar your clear coat. The longer it stays on your car, especially in our Texas heat, the more damage it does. Move your car/truck/SUV/etc into a shaded area and make a point to get the nasty stuff off as soon as possible.
- Clean it with the right stuff. You want something that breaks the bonds of the droppings for easy removal. A really good one for home use is Goo Gone Automotive. Spray the stain and let it sit for about 60 seconds.
- Don’t use paper towels! They are too abrasive and can cause more damage. Use a nice microfiber towel, and rub it lightly over the stain, so you don’t mash rocks or seeds into the paint. Remember to rub lightly and use the clean side of your towel for each wipe.
