Professional Detail
What is Car Detailing?
Professional car detailing is the art and the craft of cleaning and restoring a vehicle to like-new condition. Car detailing services are much more precise and labor-intensive than getting a car wash. A car wash is normally an automated system that a car passes through to clean the exterior. Professional auto detailing is always done by hand and includes exterior and interior car detailing services.
Why should I have my car professionally detailed?
At Pro Auto Spas, our technicians have been to industry schools to learn the proper techniques and chemicals to restore your vehicle’s paint to its highest level. Vehicles are a substantial investment these days. The better care you take of your car, the higher value it will retain. But the number one reason: It looks GREAT and makes you feel GREAT!
Ceramic Coating
Do I really need ceramic coating?
Yes, you do! It will significantly reduce your cleaning time and protect your vehicle from daily contaminants like bird droppings, bug accumulation, acid rain, anti-icing chemicals on the road, and road grime. Our ceramic coating adds a layer of protection between the paint of your car and the outside world.
How long does it take to apply ceramic coating?
Tricky question. This is totally dependent on the condition of your paint. You start with a professional detail. Before ceramic coating, your car will need to be spotless and then the paint correction process begins. Paint correction can take several hours, again, according to the condition of your paint. Applying the ceramic coating itself will usually take about 2 to 4 hours depending on the size of your vehicle. Some people want a second coat at the same time—highly recommended. Then it needs to cure for several hours—we recommend at least 12 hours. If you’re going to have us ceramic coat your vehicle, it’s easiest to plan on leaving it at least overnight. It will be locked up safely inside our facility.
How often does ceramic coating need to be reapplied?
Normally, ceramic coating will last for multiple years, depending on the number of layers applied. But a lot depends on the aftercare you provide–nothing lasts forever without maintenance. We recommend you bring your vehicle to us every six months (we’ll send reminders) for a hand wash and inspection. We’ll go over the coating to check for any flaws or thin spots and reapply where needed.
Do I need to do anything to keep the ceramic coating in great shape?
Yes. If you bucket wash your car using our instructions (or just let us do it), your coating will stay in the greatest shape. Touch-free car washes are okay, but you never know what chemicals they are using, and you still get spots from hard water. Most automated carwashes use degreasers, which will break down the ceramic finish. A regular contact carwash will cause a greater reduction in the ceramic coatings’ longevity. We always recommend a 6-month professional wash and inspection.
What happens if my ceramic coating gets damaged?
Bring it back to our professionals for a touch-up or reapplication.
Can ceramic coating be applied without doing paint decontamination?
No. We cannot ceramic coat a vehicle without doing paint decontamination first. The ceramic coating will not bond to the paint due to the impurities in the paint.
Is ceramic coating applied just on the vehicle panels or can the windows, chromes, and plastic be ceramic coated also?
With ceramic coating from Pro Auto Spas, we coat everything on the outside of your car. It’s good to discuss it with your detailer to make certain you are getting everything you’ve asked for and that you desire. Take caution from whom you get quotes for ceramic coating because, sometimes, others do not include wheels, windows, and even the top of the vehicle on trucks and SUVs in their estimate.
What does ceramic coating cost?
That depends a lot on the condition of your car. If you need lots of paint correction and perfection, that’s more man hours. On the other hand, if your car’s finish is already in great shape, the ceramic coating will take less time. Also, a tiny Smart car takes a lot less time and product than a giant four-door Ford F350, semi rig, or boat. We always provide a free, detailed estimate.
Why ceramic coat my wheels?
Wheels get the worst of the road. No getting around it. Even if you only drove on clean, pristine pavement all the time, you’d still have road film, grit, dust, and anything that’s been leaked on the road by previous cars. All of it sticks. Everyone hates to clean the wheels because they get gross. On the other hand, ceramic coating makes the wheels and tires slicker and more smooth. Less sticky for the grit and grime. A lot of the grime you normally have to scrub at will just slide off with a little high-pressure rinse, and it will absolutely keep you from having to ruin the finish on your wheels just to get them clean.
Why ceramic coat my interior?
Ceramic coating on the interior of the car is GENIUS! Especially if you have kids or dogs. Instead of spending hours scrubbing at spills and stains, everything typically just wipes off with a damp towel—sticky sodas, chocolate, blood, coffee. Unless you have something that can actually penetrate the ceramic coating, your seats, dash, and carpets are almost impervious to stains.
Paint Correction
What if I want my paint corrected?
Our detailers are experts in paint correction and will recommend the best package for the condition of your vehicle. Typically, there are a couple of options:
- an enhancement polish, which will add a lot of gloss and remove most swirl marks, or
- a full-blown paint correction package, where the detailer will polish every tiny scratch or mark to give you a showroom finish.
Paint Decontamination
What is paint decontamination?
Paint decontamination is basically a serious deep cleaning using a series of chemicals and clays to remove any embedded metals or contaminants that have worked their way into the paint. These contaminants can be caused by day-to-day driving, or on new cars can be due to the shipping process, also road grime, bird droppings, bugs, and acid rain.
Can ceramic coating be applied without doing paint decontamination?
No. We cannot ceramic coat a vehicle without doing paint decontamination first. The ceramic coating will not bond to the paint due to the impurities in the paint.
